WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT TCG?
Everyone at TCG has multiple roles, however, my primary roles include working with our engineering department on engineering projects and building business opportunities for the company.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK FOR TCG?
I rejoined TCG because the work was and is very exciting, diverse, and rewarding. The interaction with our clients and co-workers is very enjoyable.

HOW DOES THE BUSINESS RELATE TO YOUR EXPERTISE, EDUCATION, ETC.?
My background has been diverse with respect to types of construction materials. TCG is involved with most all construction materials and often the interactions between types of materials. My education in engineering and business allows our clients issues to be fully addressed.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?
My primary hobbies are family, fishing, golf, and woodworking.

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT TCG?
I am responsible for all accounting/financial functions through tax preparation, including, but not limited to: Banking, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial statements, Human Resources, Budgeting, Auditing, Insurances and all Project Accounting.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK FOR TCG?
I chose to work at TCG primarily because of the opportunity to grow with the company from its foundation, and because of all of the positive aspects of working in a family business.

HOW DOES THE BUSINESS RELATE TO YOUR EXPERTISE, EDUCATION, ETC.?
My accounting degree and thirty-five plus years of experience in accounting/financial management fit well in the business model that TCG has created.  These are crucial in helping TCG meet the challenges of becoming a successful, highly efficient, and customer centered service business.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?
Camping, hiking, reading, writing, and raising my 7 children!

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT TCG?
I bring in and manage research and development projects for clients related to materials and corrosion science/engineering.  I also provide consulting services on materials, corrosion, and concrete technologies and support the in-house engineering and lab.  I represent TCG at various technical organizations and continue to author publication and provide presentations. (A complete list of publications is available for your perusal and reference.)

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK FOR TCG?
I wanted to be more involved in projects related to Service Life Engineering. TCG is the leading group in this area. It is also a growing company where one can make a difference. Kalamazoo is a great location and I have been friends with Paul for many years.

HOW DOES THE BUSINESS RELATE TO YOUR EXPERTISE, EDUCATION, ETC.?
My background is in materials engineering, corrosion, concrete/ cement technology, and life cycle engineering. I have over 30 years of research and development experience with over 30 U.S. patents. I have worked with specifiers, as well. All this fits in with TCG.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?
Walking, reading, exercise, sports, volunteer work, poker, chess, photography, attending plays, and listening to classical & jazz music.

I provide assistance with all aspects of accounting with a particular focus on projects, and coordinate information technology for the company.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK FOR TCG?
I chose TCG to explore the field of engineering and to gain experience in other areas of the business.

HOW DOES THE BUSINESS RELATE TO YOUR EXPERTISE, EDUCATION, ETC.?
My position compliments my willingness to explore, since I have a Finance major at Western University.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?
I enjoy fishing, golfing, and boxing.


JUSTIN THOMSON, P. ENG.
PROJECT MANAGER

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT TCG?
As Project Manager in the Engineering Department, I lead a variety of durability and service life engineering projects, including supporting clients through the various phases of new construction and assessments of existing structures.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK FOR TCG?
I joined TCG for the opportunity to work with an industry leader in service life engineering.

HOW DOES THE BUSINESS RELATE TO YOUR EXPERTISE, EDUCATION, ETC.?
I have over 10 years of project management experience and a background in civil engineering. This experience has given me the opportunity to manage multiple projects of diverse scope and magnitude; and the responsibility to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of project objectives.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?
Spending time and traveling with my family, being active outdoors and playing organized sports.


RANJANI VIJAYAKUMAR

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT TCG?
I am an engineer working on durability design, service life engineering, cathodic protection, and corrosion related testing. I also assist in creating budgets and developing proposals.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK FOR TCG?
I have a background in construction materials and while looking at engineering firms specializing in construction materials, I discovered that Tourney Consulting Group is the leading group in this area. Being a small company I knew I would get hands-on experience and a lot of exposure which was exactly what I was looking for.

HOW DOES THE BUSINESS RELATE TO YOUR EXPERTISE, EDUCATION, ETC.?
.? I have a Master’s in Civil Engineering with a focus on construction materials from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The courses I took during my Master’s program qualifies me perfectly to work at TCG.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?
I enjoy listening to music, hiking, camping, biking, running, and volunteer work.

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT TCG?
I serve as project lead or asist in variuos projects including cathodic protection, service life analysis, condition assessment, formatting and creating Auto CAD drawings, and obtaining Department of Transportation approvals.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK FOR TCG?
I chose Tourney Consulting Group for the unlimited opportunity and to work for the leader in the field.

My position compliments my Construction Engineering Degree perfectly.

LARRY WACHOWSKI
LABORATORY MANAGER

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT TCG?
My role at TCG is to schedule, coordinate and supervise all laboratory projects. I’m responsible for the accuracy of all data that is generated by the lab technicians making sure that we meet all ASTM, ASHTO and CCRL specifications. I coordinate the training of lab personnel and also ensure they are current with the necessary certifications by ACI and MCA Associations.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK FOR TCG?
Accepting a position as laboratory manager at TCG provided an opportunity to work with company on the cutting edge of new testing and service life modeling.

HOW DOES THE BUSINESS RELATE TO YOUR EXPERTISE, EDUCATION, ETC.?
The decision to join TCG was a natural fit considering my extensive experience in the manufacturing and testing of ready mix concrete and block. I attended a specialized concrete technology program in college that prepared me for field testing with three large ready mix and block companies and one cement manufacturing company. My experience in construction and poured walls has brought a valuable dimension to my professional career.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?
In my spare time I enjoy woodworking and building fine furniture and toys for my friends and family.


JOSEPH DUKE
SENIOR TECHNICIAN

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT TCG?
As senior technician, I fill many roles. I perform most concrete testing, both plastic and hardened states. I fabricate any necessary molds or equipment. I also serve as a support/backup for Larry Wachowski.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK FOR TCG?
I chose to work at TCG because it offered an opportunity to expand my knowledge and ability in this industry.

HOW DOES THE BUSINESS RELATE TO YOUR EXPERTISE, EDUCATION, ETC.?
I have worked in the cement, concrete, and construction industries. I also have an associate’s degree in concrete technology. This job helps me bring all of this together.

MIKE WACHOWSKI
SENIOR LAB TECHNICIAN

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT TCG?
I handle most chemistry related testing that is brought into the company, including ACI Concrete Strength testing.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK FOR TCG?

I started working part time, helping in the lab and on large projects.  A full time position became available and they asked me to join the team!

HOW DOES THE BUSINESS RELATE TO YOUR EXPERTISE, EDUCATION, ETC.?
I studied electronics and worked in the brewing industries for 20 years. As a detail-oriented person and understanding electronics and chemistry,  TCG is a great match.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?
I enjoy helping with my children's 4-H, soccer, band, and other after school activitites.  I also enjoy stamp collecting, metal detecting, caft beer tasting, and helping craft brewers and home brewers make great beer.
