Cathodic Protection Design Services
Pier VI is the Navy Seal Amphibian Center's waterfront facility. The pier was nearly 60 years old and was in poor condition. Healy Tibbitts and Moffatt Nichols were contracted to restore Pier VI and modernize the utilities and structural capacity. The piles were in the worse condition and many of the piles were delaminating due to corrosion of the reinforcing steel.
The restoration of Pier VI included repairing and protecting the deteriorated concrete piles. TCG was contracted to design the cathodic protection system, produce construction drawings/specifications, and document the cathodic protection system commissioning. The work scope included field investigations, cathodic protect designs, and field inspection/testing services.
TCG worked into our design-build team very well. They have a correct balance of technical expertise and practicality in construction methods.
