  • EAR TO THE GROUND
Service Life Engineering has become its own powerful field of study with immense impact on the future.

Goethals Bridge Replacement

September 15, 2017

TCG is contracted through Parsons Transportation to provide service life engineering for all concrete bridge elements.  The Design-Build-Operate contract is approximately $1.0 billion and the physical owner is the Port Authority of New York / New Jersey (PANYNJ). This project incorporates not only the overall service life predictions using probabilistic analysis in accordance with fib Bulletin 34 for a 100-year design, but also includes a prediction of structural condition after 30 years of service.  This marks the time by which the PANYNJ will assume full operations of the bridge.
